Out of 5 mustaches
This here is a baffling story. Our friend Arthur Hastings has joined us and Poirot in this case.
Four attempts on Nick Buckley's life piques Poirot's interest. He's on holiday (vacation) in St. Loo on the Cornish Riviera, and he has to solve a murder. There's no vacation for our sleuth! United with Captain Hastings, Poirot is interested in the four attempts of murdering Nick. After failing every time, the murderer keeps at it, never giving up. Until, however, one night--the murderer strikes! But--there's a problem. It isn't Nick who is murdered! It's Maggie, a cousin of hers who was staying at End House with Nick, at Poirot's suggestion! Poirot is feeling frustration because he has failed. Then, Nick is poisoned, and some interesting clues show up. An underwear drawer, a Chinese silk shawl, and a news report are items that aid Poirot. Does Poirot fail in this one? Perhaps he won't, with a little help from Hastings.
In this case, Poirot faces a great challenge for he is with little clues, but the book goes 100 mph. This book was an enjoyable one because it gets you thinking. All the little details play some importance. The failed murder attempts keep you on your toes, and everyone has a motive for murder. (That's usually the case, isn't it?)
