Hi, folks. I think my favorite Marple book is A Murder is Announced. I think it's great! Marple shows that she's just as intelligent as Poirot is. I think the characters are memorable. I think it's a sad story, but still a great mystery!
Does anybody else have a favorite Marple story? (Don't give away the solution or whatever, tho! ) |

Hi,
I love A Murder is Announced - absolutely the best. They Do it With Mirrors (Murder With Mirrors in the US) is very good, too. I didn't solve any, but they have to be the simplest mysteries ever. I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie.

Murder is Announced would have to be my favorite Marple story. I have just 3 Marple novels left to read, and Announced is still my favorite. James B., I've never read They Do it With Mirrors--I'll have to read that one next. I purchased Sleeping Murder, but I think I'll actually leave that one for last. (The other Marple I haven't read is At Bertram's Hotel).
My second favorite Marple is The Thirteen Problems. Yeah, I know, it's really a short story collection. It's a very very good read. The plots are original, I think. I love Marple's neighbors/friends from the village of St. Mary Mead in that collection. _________________ James

PoirotLover, I also read "Nemesis", which I think is very good. The characterization is very well done and the drama feels "real". It is a sad story and Marple, I think, handles it well.
PoirotLover, I haven't read "Sleeping Murder". Without spoiling anything, tell me your opinion on that book. |
