| What did you think of Death on the Nile and Sad Cypress? I personally liked Death on the Nile a lot better, but I'll have to watch Sad Cypress again. |

PoirotLover, I liked "Death on the Nile" with David Suchet. Actually, I loved it! I thought it was remarkably similar to the book! Very well adapted, I think. I even went back to my copy of the novel and flipped through the pages to check on its faithfulness.
"Death on the Nile" is one of my favorite novels of Christie's, and definitely one of my top favs for episodes.
I liked "Sad Cypress", too. The characters were what I imagined them to be when I read the book a few years back. Suchet was great in it. I was a little taken back with the ending (before the actual 'ending'). I was pleased with it.
I have to make a confession though: I still haven't watched 'Five Little Pigs' yet. I have to see that this weekend. I enjoyed 'The Hollow' and thought the filmmakers adapted that well, too. |

My order (best to worst)....
1. Death on the Nile
2. The Hollow
3. Sad Cypress
4. Five Little Pigs
I really enjoyed them all, but in Five Little Pigs the camera was too shaky, and for an hour Poirot does nothing but interview the suspects. I think they could have put in a few scenes in between. The ending was great, though. |

PoirotLover, sorry to hear about the filming of "Five Little Pigs". You're going to laugh--I lost my videotape of that episode--I still haven't seen it! Argh.
According to my recollection, that novel did have a lot of 'blah blah blah' (dialogue/interviewing). That does get a little tedious, huh? That is really hard on the filmmakers when they're adapting the story to the screen.
The 1974 film "Murder on the Orient Express" had plenty of interviewing, but I remember that it was short, and it had scenes in between, so to speak. |

| "Death on the Nile" with Suchet was great, I think! I was very pleased to see Colonel Race in that story. I recognized that actor who portrayed him in a few past movies. Now that we've seen Race, maybe A&E can adapt "Cards on the Table" to the screen to use Race again, since he appears in the book with Poirot. |
