...Although it's been suggested that Poirot was copied from Marie Belloc Lowndes's "Hercules Poiret", so we should mention that lady. ACD was her favourite, though. Am I right, James? _________________ www.jamescbernthal.tk

Dear Friends,
I researched further, and remembered where I'd read about this author. She wrote a mystery called The Book of the Lion, and on the back cover blurb it said "Agatha Christie's favorite crime author..."
Her name is Elizabeth Daly!!
Thanks for the efforts, though...

Hi, Ruth222! Hope you have enjoyed browsing around my site. I actually remember reading somewhere that Agatha Christie's favorite author was indeed Elizabeth Daly. What's interesting is that I've also read in 2 or 3 places that her favorite was Charles Dickens. I hate two conflicting statements. Maybe I'll have to look over Christie's autobiography for help.
JCB mentioned Conan Doyle. Christie definitely read all of his stories with her sister when they were both young; of course Christie used Sherlock Holmes as the basis for Poirot.
People: Anybody else have an idea? Hmm? |
