Goby
Mr. Goby, described as a small and elderly man, was a 'great purveyor of information'. How he obtained his information was a mystery, but his results counted as miracles. He employed a relatively decent-sized staff to uncover any secrets and data from people. Mr. Goby had a strange habit of avoiding eye contact with people, preferring to talk to a TV set, fireplace, or a rug.
Poirot, on occasion, commissioned Goby when Poirot himself had difficulty getting information. At least three times Poirot had turned to this private investigator for facts and info. Goby's services were also used by the millionaire Rufus Van Aldin, in the first recorded case of the shabbily dressed man.
