This is a short story collection of 12 stories Agatha Christie wrote for the magazine Sketch. Here we have 14 fabulous fast-reading stories. These range from kidnapping to murder to theft to espionage. One murder is disguised as suicide, one fraud disguised as robbery, and one suspect disguised as a witness!
Some of the best stories include: "The Chocolate Box," "The Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan," "The Veiled Lady," "The Adventure of the Cheap Flat," "The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim," and "The Adventure of the Egyptian Tomb." I like these ones the best because everyone is not what they seem (it's like that, isn't it?) and the endings are surprising.
What I liked most about the stories is that they are very fast-paced and these are some of the better narrations of Captain Hastings. Poirot just glows here with his brain and his funny wit.
