"Poirot" TV Series
In this section under "Hercule Poirot", some space is dedicated to the excellent television series Agatha Christie's Poirot which starred British actor David Suchet and included many recurring characters forming a supporting cast. These characters included Captain Arthur Hastings, Inspector James Japp, Miss Felicity Lemon, Ariadne Oliver, and valet George. The show aired from 1989 to 2013 and consisted of 70 total episodes, covering every major literary work by author Agatha Christie.
The series is well-known for its theme music by composer Christopher Gunning (he won a British Academy Television Award in 1990), its animated opening sequence (another award-winner), the costume and production design reflecting the 1930s and Art Deco, and the on-screen chemistry of David Suchet as Poirot with his fellow actors as the supporting cast. Of all the various locations selected for the filming of the series, the iconic one is that of Poirot's residence Whitehaven Mansions (Florin Court in Charterhouse Square, in London).
